Donation statement for the 2024 period 1 intake

The Russell Kin Trust are pleased to announce the first round of 2024 charitable donations. The charities this period are A place to Be, Frensham Pond Sailability, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and Oakleaf Enterprise.

It feels like the year has passed so quickly as we are already finished with our first donation period of the year. In any case it is always wonderful to catch up with the selected charities and to hear what projects they are working on.

This funding period has been unique for the trust as we had pre-allocated a portion of our funding to support two charities over two periods. We felt that this would be the most effective way to support these projects while allowing us the funds to support any new charities that would like to make an application. This decision would prove helpful as we indeed had the pleasure of welcoming a new charity during this funding period.

In 2023 we met A Place to Be in Haslemere who run after-school clubs to support the children of the area. As they were starting out on their journey as a charity we were keen to support them to navigate the early days. As such we supplied a grant in 2023 and have provided another grant this year. APTB has continued to grow, helping to support more children around Haslemere.

Last year we provided a grant to Frensham Pond Sailability to help acquire new training technology and equipment to help train the next generation of sailors. We provided the second part of that grant this funding period and we look forward to seeing these new sailors out on the pound. We also provided the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice the next round of the multi-year grant which will be used to build a quiet room within the new hospice building.

This funding period we are thrilled to welcome a new charity. Oakleaf Enterprise based in Guildford support adults to maintain their mental health through wellbeing activities and training. Our grant will be used to support their IT training programme to train two new support officers to assist Oakleaf’s activities.

We would like to congratulate all our recipients this period and wish them much success with their projects.
