The Russell Kin Trust are pleased to announce the second round of 2025 charitable donations. The charities this period are Princess Alice Hospice, Disability Challengers and the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
It seems that we have unintentionally followed a theme with our grant donations this period. All the charities we have supported this period are focused on community health and care. Although a core focus of the charity, it is a funny observation to make. In any case, it is truly a privilege to reconnect with these charities and support them to further their aims and ambitions.
The first charity we would like to mention is the Princess Alice Hospice in Esher. We met the hospice the previous year, unfortunately they were unsuccessful in their initial application. This did not deter the hospice, and after another catch-up we were happy to support them this time round. We are supporting the hospice’s Compassionate Neighbours Programme, which aims to support members of the local community who are going through, or supporting someone with a long-term illness. This is achieved by matching these community members with a trained volunteer from the hospice. Experiencing a life-long illness can cause social isolation for these community members, as such compassionate neighbours provide friendship, companionship and connection at this time.
Another returning charity we are working with is the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. We normally do not mention Phyllis Tuckwell each period, as this is an ongoing donation we make to them. However the hospice has an exciting future to look forward to, so we felt it was time to provide an update. Over the past few years Phyllis Tuckwell has modernised and expanded their hospice in Farnham. Last year not only did the hospice reach its fundraising goals, they have also started to put the final touches on the new facility. To help in this endeavour we have provided donations towards the building of a family quiet room within the new facility.
The last charity we are supporting this period is Disability Challengers, whom we have supported before. The charity runs specialist playgroups for children and young people with disabilities. Their flagship playgroup in Guildford offer attendees a safe play space, a sensory room and special activities. The playgroup is run by enthusiastic and caring professionals who bring joy and excitement to the children who attend. We had the great privilege to visit the playgroup last summer, being invited to join in on a drumming workshop. It was a lovely experience and a great way to see the difference that challengers make to the children.
We would like to congratulate all our recipients this period and wish them much success with their projects.
